The Titanic is one of the most famous ships in history and at the time was the biggest cruise liner in the world. The ship that “even god himself couldn’t sink” (Titanic the movie 1997) was built in Belfast Ireland and took three years to complete.
The tragic story of Titanic is one that has stood the test of time, causing the death of 1,502 people on her maiden voyage from Southampton UK to New York City. Her passengers included some of the world’s wealthiest people as well as immigrants from all Europe hoping to migrate to North America in the hope of creating a new life for themselves in the new world.
To acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the ships sinking there will be a display in the US of all of the jewels that they have uncovered from their underwater explorations. Here are just a few of the beautiful Edwardian style pieces found.
